About Us
The Reef-Farm is an agricultural facility created to both provide ornamental marine life to the Aquarium Industry and to study/develop methodologies and practices for increasing the success of keeping these inhabitants in hobbyist displays. Our initial focus will be on adapting a genetic line of ornamentals that prove to be the most succesful in surviving and thriving in artificial environments. We will begin this process by acquiring select high demand flora and fauna, and through successive selections and generations creating a line that has proven to be successful in both thriving in displays and showing the ability to be successfully transported to those displays through the necessary channels.
Another goal is to increase the awareness of husbandry needs for all of the species that we produce. Once we have setup and determined the most successful candidates we will begin to collect information on how to best create an environment and methods of care for your selections. We feel that through the above processes we can significantly increase the success of the marine ornamental hobby to the point that nearly anyone with a basic knowledge, and a desire to provide the care needed, will be able to successfully sustain
The end result, we hope, is that when you go to your local fish store you will be able to select with the plants and livestock you desire with confidence that with the right husbandry your selections will provide the maximum amount of pleasure for years to come.
